This policy explains what personal information Leatherbound (“we”, “us”) collects when you visit leatherbound.ink or place an order, how we use it, and the choices you have. Leatherbound is a small leather workshop run by Silas Perry in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. If you have any questions, email sales@leatherbound.ink.

Information we collect

• Order details. Your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, the items and customizations you order (including any personalization text or images), and order notes.
• Account details. If you create an account: your name, email address, password (stored encrypted), and order history.
• Payment details. Payments are handled by our payment processors, Helcim and PayPal. Card numbers are entered into and stored by them, not by us. We receive a confirmation and limited details such as the card type and last four digits.
• Messages. What you send us through the contact form, by email, or on social media.
• Newsletter. Your email address and preferences if you choose to subscribe.
• Usage data. Information your browser sends when you visit, such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, and how you arrived at the site. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see below).

How we use it

• To make, ship and support your order, including sending order and shipping updates.
• To answer your questions and provide warranty service.
• To send marketing emails if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
• To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
• To protect the site and our customers from fraud, spam and security threats.
• To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the shop, and only as needed for them to do so:

• Payment processors: Helcim and PayPal, to take payment and prevent fraud.
• Shipping carriers: such as Taiwan Post (Chunghwa Post), USPS, Canada Post, SF Express and DHL, to deliver your order and provide tracking. Customs declarations may include your name, address and order contents.
• Email and marketing: Klaviyo and Mailchimp, to send order-related and (if you opt in) marketing emails and to collect product reviews.
• Analytics: Google Analytics, to measure site traffic and usage.
• Hosting and security: our web host and security tools (such as Wordfence), which process IP addresses to keep the site running and secure.
• Embedded content: pages may include videos from YouTube or posts from Instagram, which may collect data as if you visited those sites directly.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.

Cookies

We use cookies that are necessary for the shop to work (for example, to keep items in your cart and keep you signed in), and analytics and marketing cookies from the services listed above. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop the cart and checkout from working.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as needed to provide warranty service and meet tax and accounting requirements. Account information is kept until you ask us to delete your account. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe. Messages are kept as long as needed to answer them and for our records.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, in the EU, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain uses, to receive a copy of your data, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email sales@leatherbound.ink. We will respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

We are based in Taiwan, and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. By using the site, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws than your own. We rely on our providers’ safeguards for these transfers.

Security

The site uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and payment details are handled by our payment processors. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
