Construction

  • Hand sewn using the saddle stitch method
  • Detailed edge work. Edges are finely creased, hand painted, and polished to a smooth finish
  • Middle pocket is lined with leather

Edge paint color defaults to maker’s choice, which is typically matched to either exterior or interior. For special requests, please add an order note. Note: Top stitch line is omitted unless burnished edges are requested (available only with vegetable tanned leathers).

  • Polyester thread for superior abrasion resistance

Softer leathers (Chèvre, Sherpa, Python, or Sharkskin) are backed with reinforcement to prevent stretching over time.

    This is the ultimate form of the 5-slot cardholder wallet. I love that you can see how it’s made on the blog, and it looks wonderful up close. Cards stuck in the slots at first, but loosened up after removing and replacing a few times. The centre pocket opens fairly easily by pinching the sides. Comfortably holds my 5 cards and ~6 bills so far. Cards seem to bend outwards slightly regardless of how much or how little is in the centre pocket, but I expect the pockets will loosen up a bit with some wear.

The saddle stitch is impeccable; I have a couple saddle stitched leather goods, and some artisans are better than others. Silas is definitely one of the better ones. Yes, the wait time for your finished leather good is long, but I’d argue this is standard for any bespoke service, especially for someone who literally hand stitches his work.
